FGAS LEGISLATION IS THE LAW.........
Compliance with FGAS is the Law.....How are you affected?
Anyone with stationary refrigeration, air conditioning or heat pump equipment containing certain gases may be affected by F-Gas regulation and therefore many commercial and industrial organisations will have obligations under the legislation.
F-Gas Registration is a LEGAL Requirement for All Buildings With Air Conditioning Regardless of the Quantity of Fluorinated Gas in The System, or the kW output of the system.
F-Gas Survey & Leak Check/ Inspection is a LEGAL Requirement For All Systems That Contain 3kg or more of Fluorinated Gas.
The checks are at differing intervals according to the charge/quantity of Gas
Leakage Inspection
•Systems shall be checked for leakage dependant on refrigerant charge/quantity
•3kg charge – check at least every 12 months
•30kg charge – check at least every 6 months
•300kg charge – check at lease every 3 months
•The application shall be checked for leakage within 1 month after a leak has been repaired to ensure the repair was effective •Operators of equipment containing 300kg or more shall install leakage detection systems these must be checked every 12 months
•”Checked for leakage” means that the system is examined for leakage using direct and indirect methods.

Companies are misled by the fact they have used a contractor who by law has to be F-Gas reistered to undertake the work, and in doing so that this gives them as a company F-Gas registration, this is totally incorrect and they could be prosecuted for non compliance.
F Gas Regulations require that operators of the above systems use all available measures that are technically feasible, and do not entail disproportionate cost to prevent leakage of F gases and to repair any detected leaks as soon as possible. Applications must be checked within one month following repair of an F gas leak. Certain other specialist applications, such as fire protection systems and fire extinguishers, certain high voltage switchgear, and air conditioning systems in certain motor vehicles that fall outside of our scope of works, are also covered by the F Gas Regulations. F Gas Regulations require that personnel carrying out works must be appropriately certified F-Gas registred as prescribed therein.
Operators of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment shall use all measures which are technically feasible and do not entail disproportionate cost to prevent leakage of HFCs and as soon as possible repair any detected leakage
An operator is defined as the natural or legal person exercising actual power over the technical functioning of the systems covered by this regulation. A member state may in specific situations designate the owner as being responsible for the operators obligations.
These operators shall ensure system are checked for leakage by certified personnel, as defined by the training and certification requirement.
