Air conditioning installation, Royal Mail Manchester
service server room cooling
Design criteria
To provide the existing server room with the correct amount of cooling with the facility to increase the servers in the future. We had calculated that the server room required 30kw of cooling and that an additional 10kw would be sufficient for future expansion of servers.
scope of works
To remove 3 x cassette type a/c systems and replace these with 4 x wall mounted split systems,.whilst keeping the server room temperature below 27degrees.
Method of installation
Firstly we installed the new wall mounted systems inside the server room, routing the pipe works and cables up through into the ceiling. These services were then run on cable tray to outside, down the wall and along to each condensing unit. once the installation was complete the systems were pressure tested to manufacturers guidelines over a 24hr period, and then the correct amount of refrigerant was charged into the system. Each system was then turned on and commissioned, once all were running to optimum capacity the old systems were decommissioned by the disconnection's of all electrics and the recovery of the old R22 gas into a reclaim bottle ready for incineration by the appropriate governing bodies. The old indoor/outdoor units and pipes/cables were then removed and taken away for recycling.
Completion
once all systems had been commissioned, then a written record of the gas charge, commissioning data and manufacturers details were recorded and forwarded on to the client so that current on site records could be updated to comply with all “F Gas” legislation.
